New Beginnings
Starting a new blog is kind of like starting a new relationship - sometimes it's reaallllyyyy hard to let go of the old one even though you KNOW you should just move on and cut all ties and be done with it.
I am starting a new website New England Moms which will basically be the same as Massachusetts Mom but include a lot more information and features and product reviews and travel reviews etc. I am adding new information all the time but it's taken me a long time to really get going. Part of the problem is that I just can't quite let go of old Massachusetts Mom. It's familiar. I love the people I've met and the comments we get. And, after almost two years it's kind of hard to break the habit of typing in http://www.massachusettsmom.blogspot.com/.
Sigh. So for the next week or so I am going to try to lure all of you over to my new site and then at some point I will just have to cut the cord completely. Again. Sigh.
Here is a link to my most recent post over there and here's another one. Read. Comment. Enjoy.
It's a cute little lobster don't ya think?

Healthy Ideas - Stop and Shop
Stop & Shop has just introduced a Healthy Ideas initiative that you should take note of. The next time you go into a Stop & Shop you will see the Healthy Ideas logo on over 3,000 items in the store. The logo is designed to help you pick out healthy foods without reading labels. And thank god for that because who has time to read labels? I have seen this done in other stores and it makes shopping so much easier - no more struggling to interpret fats and transfats, sugars and proteins just look for the green and blue logo.
So how does Stop & Shop come up with a criteria for labeling a particular food - healthy?
They took into account "calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium - and developed criteria that evaluated foods based on the FDA and USDA guidelines." They also made sure "that every Healthy Ideas food has at least 10% of the daily recommended amount of one nutrient, such as Calcium or Vitamin C."
To find out more about the program click here. The website also includes recipes, information on food allergies and food safety.
Contest Winner
Thanks to everyone who participated in the SuperBowl contest. We have our winner Michelle Hudak from Ohio! And it's Michelle's birthday on Superbowl weekend so everyone say Happy Birthday Michelle.
